‘What can be done to turn things around?’
The solution is simple. Restore our patent system. Unless and until, small entity filings and patents will continue to crater. Why invent if we can’t own what we create and our large multinational infringers are free to rob and crush us at will? Meanwhile, they ship more and more American jobs offshore. When they can’t export jobs they import workers that displace Americans. In no small part this is why America can’t find a good paying full time job and why even our college grads can’t find work in their fields.
For us the patent system is far too slow, hard and expensive. When we have to fight to get, keep or enforce our patents we go out of business. The only thing reliable about it for us is that we can’t depend on it. Invention has always been a great challenge. Now it’s impossible. Going up against a far larger competitor with no scruples is a fool’s errand without a patent system which gives us a realistic expectation of commercializing our inventions.
Restore our patent system? That is exactly what our bill will do.
